To launch City of Breastfeeding, tomorrow evening listeners can hear eight breastfeeding stories of Coventry and Warwickshire mothers.
Voluntary Arts in collaboration with BBC CWR Radio produced creative, oral storytelling workshops for mothers who may or may not have breastfed but who have a story to tell. The workshops were run by Rachel New, a radio producer and writer.
Each mother attended a series of six zoom workshops on Monday morning of 1.5 hours each. During the sessions a series of narratives emerged was transformed into oral stories, some of which we will hear tomorrow night’s radio programme.
These excerpts from the final pieces take many forms, some poems, some prose, and are sometimes tinged with anger or sadness but always rooted in joy and wonder.
